Tenami, a service that enables YouTube, Disney+, HBO Max, Crunchyroll, and Netflix watch parties for Twitch, released a major update to their browser extension.
As of today, Tenami watch parties now support theater mode. Theater mode allows viewers to watch Netflix, Twitch, and Twitch chat in a single hub, bringing the Netflix watch party experience on par with Twitch’s built-in watch parties for Amazon Prime Video.
“Watching Netflix alongside 1,000s of other people that share similar interests to you is a lot more memorable than watching by yourself. Tenami provides Twitch streamers with tons of new AAA content that they can react to live while simultaneously adding the community element to Netflix and Crunchyroll that has been missing for so long,” said Ryan Kashi, CEO of Tenami.
Joining a Tenami watch party is simple. When a streamer hosts a Tenami watch party, viewers are given the option to enter. From there, Tenami will sync Netflix and Twitch together for viewers to watch and chat like normal. To watch, however, you will need to have a Netflix account.
“Tenami watch parties work like Twitch’s built-in Amazon Prime Video watch parties. Instead of streaming Netflix directly to Twitch, streamers stream themselves full screen. The Tenami service will then sync the video content for viewers that have Netflix so that Twitch streamers don’t have to worry about DMCA strikes,” continued Ryan.
While in theater mode, Netflix takes up most of the screen while placing the Twitch live stream and chat in a smaller window to the right, just like how a typical Twitch watch party would look. Like other popular Twitch extensions such as BetterTTV, Tenami’s service becomes available automatically across Twitch once installed.
